BUDA E CRISTO

Os poderes e forças que o atraem seres humanos para ascender novamente ao mundo espiritual residem em duas categorias: aquelas que o atraem para cima no caminho da Sabedoria, e aqueles que o atraem para cima no caminho da Moralidade. As forças às quais o progresso intelectual se deve procedem principalmente pelo impulso dado por uma grande Individualidade da quarta Época Pós-atlântida que é conhecida por todos vocês, ou seja, Gautama Buda. É uma notável descoberta da investigação espiritual que os pensamentos mais penetrantes e mais significativos concebidos em nossa época atual procederam de Buda Gautama. O segundo impulso que, além do de Buda, continua a trabalhar na evolução da humanidade é o Impulso de Cristo e está conectado com a ascensão futura da humanidade à Moralidade. Embora o ensino de Buda seja, num sentido particular um ensinamento moral, o Impulso de Cristo não é o ensino, mas o real (verdadeiro) poder que funciona (atua, trabalha) como tal e em grau crescente imbui a humanidade com força (fortalecimento) moral.

MORAL TEACHINGS AND MORAL POWER

“In order to avoid misunderstandings, we must emphasize that when we speak of the old religious founders we are not including Christ among them. I have often said that Christ’s significance does not lie in his teachings, but in what took place through him. The ancient religious founders were in a sense teachers, but Christ’s main deed was to imbue humanity with His own power through the Mystery of Golgotha. To this day, this has been extremely difficult for many people to understand. That is why they speak of Christ as only a great cosmic teacher. For those who really understand the full significance of Christ, this is simply nonsense.”

BUDDHA, CHRIST

The powers and forces which draw man upwards again to the spiritual world fall into two categories: those which draw him upwards on the path of Wisdom, and those which draw him upwards on the path of Morality. The forces to which intellectual progress is mainly due all proceed from the impulse given by a great Individuality of the fourth post-Atlantean epoch who is known to you all, namely Gautama Buddha. It is a remarkable discovery of spiritual investigation that the most penetrating, most significant, thoughts conceived in our present epoch have proceeded from Gautama Buddha. The second impulse which, in addition to that of Buddha, continues to work in the evolution of humanity is the Christ Impulse and is connected with the future ascent of humanity to Morality. Although Buddha’s teaching is in a particular sense moral teaching, the Christ Impulse is not teaching but actual power which works as such and to an increasing degree imbues mankind with moral strength.Rudolf Steiner.
